What is ShopAssist?

ShopAssist is Describely's new AI-powered discoverability feature, currently in beta.

It's a search, question & answer widget that helps your website visitors find and purchase the right products quickly and efficiently, improving their shopping experience and boosting your conversion rates.

Who is ShopAssist For?

ShopAssist is best suited for eCommerce businesses that either:

  • Sell through Shopify or WooCommerce

  • Maintain product data in a CSV or Excel file

Important: To use ShopAssist, your product data must include page URLs and image URLs to ensure accurate linking between ShopAssist's customer conversations and your online store's product pages. 

How Does ShopAssist Work?

  1. Import Your Product Data.

    • Navigate to the ShopAssist tab in Describely.

    • Choose to import data from Shopify, WooCommerce, or a CSV file.

    • If using Shopify or WooCommerce, enter your store URL to connect your products.

    • If importing a file, ensure it contains product titles, product page URLs, and image URLs.

    • Map Describely’s fields (e.g., title, URL, image) to your data columns.

    TIP: This is the "knowledge" ShopAssist will use to educate your visitors, so the more, the better!

  2. Install ShopAssist on Your Website

    • From the Install tab, note the Install Script and ShopAssist Widget. You will need both of these installed in your website's HTML for the widget to display properly.

    • Copy and paste the Install Script to your theme's header HTML.

      NOTE: If using Shopify, insert the script as "custom liquid".

    • In a new section of your theme's template, add id="describely-widget-root" to tie ShopAssist to any site element. This gives you the freedom to customize the widget's appearance and placement.

  3. Test and Optimize

    • Use the Playground tab to simulate visitor interactions before going live.

    • Configure appearance settings such as text and background colors.

    • Monitor live sessions and track unanswered questions.

    • Train ShopAssist with preset responses to improve customer interactions.
