Connect Google Search Console

Follow the steps in this article to integrate your Google Search Console analytics with Describely!

Link your product analytics

Once Google Search Console is connected, you can link products in Describely to their website page URsL.

This lets Describely analyze product performance, surface queries people are searching to find your product, and optimize your SEO.

Note: Analytics are not supported for draft or unpublished products.

To link products from your Analytics:

  1. Click Analytics on the left sidebar.
  2. From either the All Pages or Unlinked Pages tab, find the page you want to link a product to and click Link
  3. Select the product from the dropdown. Voila! You will now see a shopping bag icon indicating the page is linked to one or more product(s).

To link a page from an individual product:

  1. From your catalog, click into the product whose performance you'd like to analyze.
  2. On the top toolbar, select the Analytics tab.
  3. Select the live page URL for the respective product from the auto-populated list (pulled in from Google Search Console). If needed, manually enter the URL (including https://).
  4. When you're ready, click Associate

  5. Click the Get Analytics Data button to pull in data for this product. Voila!

What about product variants? If you sell multiple variant SKUs on the same page URL, you can link multiple products to that same page in Describely.

If each variant has its own unique page, you'll instead want to link each to its respective page URL.

Review your performance

Once you've linked your products and pulled analytics data into Describely, you can view your performance in two different ways:

1. View all page analytics from the Analytics tab on the left sidebar. Use the flexible filters and sorting to view performance for specific products over various time ranges.

Managing more than one website? Use the top middle drop-down to view each site's analytics.

2. View each product's individual performance from the product's Product Details tab and jump right into content optimization.

A few notes about how Describely reports your analytics:

  • Your product page's overall CTR (click-through-rate) is shown as a decimal point (not a percentage).
For example: The CTR "0.019" which is the same as 1.9%.

  • At the bottom, you'll see a section for your product page's search queries and their performance. This includes the keyword and its CTR in quotations (also in decimal format).
For example: "Outdoor wooden table (0.01)"
  • Hover over each search query to view the number of clicks and impressions that determine its CTR.

Optimize your content

Important: If you're working from Analytics on the left sidebar, click the shopping bag icon under Products to open the product you'd like to optimize.

From the Analytics tab of your product, follow these steps:

  1. Identify and click on the search query you'd like to optimize for. This will auto-populate it in the product's SEO Tools tab.
Tip: We recommend optimizing for terms most relevant to your goals, as these vary by business.
  2. Next, research and include new keywords in a new, SEO-optimized product description by following the steps in this article!
Note: Only one search query can be optimized for at a time.
