Custom Fields Library: Real Use Cases

What are custom fields?

Custom fields are flexible data placeholders that let you go beyond Describely’s standard product fields (like title, description, or feature bullet points).

They allow you to tell Describely’s AI exactly which types of product details you want written—and how you want them structured.

Examples

You can create a custom field for nearly anything you’d include in a shopping feed, product detail page, or eCommerce website.

Describely users are already putting custom fields to work in creative ways. Here are a few examples:

  • Category-level content:
    • Use custom fields for collection and category page or meta copy (e.g., “Ceiling Fans,” “Lamps”).
  • Product specification content:
    • Add fields like Color, User Type, Application, and Certifications for detailed PDP (Product Detail Page) data. Keep in mind the AI will need this information available in your originally imported data for it to be accurate.
  • Feed-based content for marketplaces and other channels:
    • Use custom fields for Material, Condition, Size, Gender, and even Google Product Category to meet Google Shopping requirements and better align with marketplace templates. This keeps AI-generated content organized for omnichannel use.
