Refine Brand Tone & Content Style

In this article

📌 Overview

Personalized, on-brand content starts with the right instructions, and that’s where Content Rules come in. Rulesets are detailed writing guidelines you provide to the AI so it generates product content that aligns with your brand voice, tone, and platform requirements.

With Describely, you can edit existing rules, create new ones, and apply them across your catalog to ensure consistency and quality at scale.

🚀 How to Get Started

  1. In the left sidebar, click Content Rulesets
  2. Choose a ruleset to tweak (you'll see two by default)
    • One created from the sample content you submitted when you set up your account.
    • Describely’s default ruleset, which includes an option for a generic instruction set OR an industry/category specific instruction set.

  3. Customize your instructions
    • You can modify writing commands, tone, paragraph style, length, output language, and more.
    • Add new prompts, delete outdated ones, or fine-tune existing ones to reflect your brand’s guidelines.
  4. Write clear, actionable instructions
    • Focus on telling the AI what to do (e.g., "Start with the product name") rather than what not to do.
    • Include product-specific context or examples to improve output quality.
    • Once you’re happy with your edits, click Save and Apply.
    • Your updated ruleset will now be available anytime you generate content—individually or in bulk.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Use consistent formatting and tone guidelines to maintain brand alignment across large catalogs.
  • Create multiple rulesets if your store spans diverse product categories or audiences.
  • Include example phrases or style tips to help the AI better understand your preferences.
  • Want to keep things short and punchy? Adjust paragraph settings and length accordingly.
