Are Content Rules new to you? Check out this overview, then come back to this article!

Create a new ruleset

  1. On the left sidebar, click Content Rulesets.
  2. Click the + New button.
  3. Select either:
    1. Create From Link to have Describely automatically create a ruleset from an existing live product page. This is recommended if you already have multiple product fields to analyze. Learn more about this setup workflow here.
    2. Create From Description to have Describely automatically create a ruleset from a sample product description. This can be from a live URL OR copied and pasted, and is recommended if you don't currently have a live product page example.
  4. Name your new ruleset and add, remove, or edit rules as needed.
    1. Note: If you'd like to set your new ruleset as the default for your bulk generations, don't skip the checkbox at the top. 😉
  5. To customize your bullet point count, length, and instructions within your ruleset, add a Bullet Point Setup rule.
    1. Example: Try telling the AI to include only specific product specifications or attributes in           each bullet point (with examples as needed).

6.  Click Save and Apply. Voila! Now you can now easily create product content in bulk for all your product page fields.

Edit or manage existing rulesets

  1. On the left sidebar, click Content Rulesets.
  2. Locate the ruleset you'd like to manage.

Note: The Describely Default rules cannot be changed. Custom rulesets can be edited, cloned, set as a default, or deleted.

  3. Edit your rules as needed.
  4. To add a new rule for a default field OR create a custom field, click Add Rule on the bottom left.
  5. Click Save and Apply. Voila!

Using multiple rulesets for different categories? Use Group Types and Saved Filters to apply them to batches of products OR save a unique default ruleset for each category's catalog!

Assign default custom rulesets

  1. On the left sidebar, click Content Rulesets.
  2. From the top of your ruleset, check the Set as business default box. Now this ruleset will be automatically selected whenever you create content! 🎉
  3. If you need to apply unique rulesets for each catalog, edit the ruleset from any catalog and set it as the Catalog Default.

Examples & tips

Overall, to write effective content rules:

  • Include clear, direct commands.
  • Make sure instructions do not contradict each other.
  • Use positive language. Tell the AI what to do rather than what not to do.
  • Avoid industry jargon or slang.
  • Test different instructions and keep fine-tuning until the results match your needs!
  • When in doubt, try out the tried and true prompts in our Content Rules Library.
