Personalize Content Tone & Style
In this article
Overview
Personalized, on-brand content starts with the right instructions. Content Rulesets are detailed writing guidelines you provide to the AI so it generates product content aligned with your brand voice, style, and formatting requirements. This ensures consistency and quality across your entire catalog.
How to Get Started
Rulesets can be modified from an existing industry templates OR automatically generated by analyzing an existing product page.
Here’s how to set one up from a page URL:
- In the left sidebar, go to Content Rulesets.
- Choose one of two options:
- Start from a template: Pick from our ready-made rule templates. Skip to this section to learn how to refine it further.
- Analyze an existing product page: Let AI learn your brand’s tone and structure from content you already love.
- Enter a name for your ruleset.
- Paste the URL of your product page.
- Once analyzed, review the identified output language (you can change it if needed).
- You’ll see a list of all available fields (like Title, Description, Features). Deselect any you don’t want generated.
- Continue to the analysis step.
Describely’s AI will examine your content for patterns—style, tone, formatting, and product data—and build structured rules around them.
When the analysis is done:
- Review each field’s breakdown on the left side of the screen.
- Click Generate Rule for each field to create AI-driven writing instructions.
- Regenerate rules as needed. Don't worry - they can be manually edited later if needed.
- When you’re satisfied, click Save to finalize your ruleset.
Edit rulesets
Tip: When editing rules, keep your language clear and direct. Write full sentences and avoid internal shorthand or industry jargon. This helps the AI stay accurate and consistent.
- Choose the ruleset to tweak.
- Customize your fields & instructions.
- You can modify writing commands, tone, paragraph style, length, output language, and more.
- Add new prompts, delete outdated ones, or fine-tune existing ones to reflect your brand’s guidelines.
- Check out different field options (including custom fields) by clicking Add Rule on the bottom left.
- Write clear, detailed instructions that enforce output consistency.
- Focus on telling the AI what to do (e.g., "Start with the product name") rather than what not to do.
- Include product-specific context or examples to improve output quality.
- Once you’re happy with your edits, click Save and Apply.
- Your updated ruleset will now be available anytime you generate content—individually or in bulk.
Important: If you need HTML styling like bolding, different headers, paragraph + bulleted lists in one field, etc. you'll want to lean into custom fields.
