Publish Custom Fields to Shopify Metafields
In this article
Important: Before you can publish to a metafield, you must first map it to Describely.
Prepare your ruleset
Before publishing, make sure your content rulesets include instructions for all the fields you want to create and push to Shopify.
Your ruleset should include the fields you need, whether they are default fields or custom fields.
Default fields include:
- Product title
 - Product description
 - Meta title
 - Meta description
 - Feature bullet points

You can also create custom fields for anything unique to your product catalog—like short descriptions, care instructions, or other product details.
Tip: If you need output in HTML (like a paragraph followed by a bulleted list), create a custom field and include that formatting in your ruleset instructions.
Generate fields in bulk
Once your rulesets are ready:
- In your catalog, select the products you want to generate content for.
 - Use Enhance with AI > Generate Content to create all fields—default and custom—at once.

After generation, review your content and make any edits before publishing.
Publish to Shopify metafields
When your content is approved, it’s time to go live:
- In the upper right corner, click Publish.
 - In the Publish settings window, review your mappings for Describely’s default fields (like product titles and descriptions).
 - Scroll down to view your custom fields.
 - Map each custom field in Describely to an existing Shopify metafield—or create a new metafield right in Describely.
 - When you’re done, click Publish to Store.

And just like that—success! All your fields, including custom metafields, are live on your Shopify listings and ready to convert visitors into customers. 🎉
