Fill In Data Gaps with Data Enrichment
In this article
📌 Overview
Working with limited product data from suppliers or manufacturers? Describely’s Data Enrichment helps you automatically fill in the gaps by pulling product specs and attributes from public sources across the web.
This ensures your content is detailed and conversion-ready—without hours of manual research.
🚀 How to Get Started
- Check product status
- After importing your catalog, you may see an "Enrichment Recommended" status.
- This means Describely has identified products with missing or sparse data.
Even if the status isn’t present, you can enrich any products to create more detailed product content.

- Select the products you'd like to enrich and click Enhance With AI in the upper right.
- Choose your search fields
- Select the fields Describely should use to search for product information.
- Think of these like terms you’d enter in Google (or on a specific website's search bar) to look up the product.
- Review the Search Data Quality Score estimating the accuracy of data that might be retrieved (based on your chosen fields). If this isn't up to par, experiment with others!

Tip: Use global identifiers like UPC or GTIN when possible. If you have them, manufacturer part numbers can also help retrieve more accurate data, as long as they match public data. Avoid internal SKUs that only exist in your system.
- Customize your search by adding filters to:
- Pull in specific attributes (like "specifications", color, or dimensions).
- Attempt to retrieve product images.
- Limit results to up to 5 specific domains (such as a manufacturer’s or competitor's website).
Important: If data cannot successfully be retrieved from your specified sources, Describely will automatically attempt to bring data in from other public sources. You'll always be able to see and review these in the bulk job!
- Click Start Data Enrichment
Voila! Describely will pull in the requested data it can, which you can review and approve to integrate when you bulk generate content. You can also export your new data via CSV to bring back into your system.

💡 Pro Tips
- Titles can work well for general search, but using unique identifiers like UPC or GTIN yields better accuracy.
- Use the domain filter if you only want enrichment from a specific source (like a supplier or brand website).
- After enrichment approval, you can immediately use the enhanced data in bulk content generation.

🛠Troubleshooting
- Getting incomplete results? Try different search fields—UPC or GTIN work better than internal SKUs. Images may not always be retrieved depending on the source.
- Enrichment not starting? Make sure at least one publicly available search field is selected, and you have enough data enrichment credits.
- Missing images or specs? Use the optional filters to prioritize key data types, or expand your search by testing different domains or search across the open web. Keep in mind some websites do block AI crawlers.
